Are you passionate about making a real difference to children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities? Are you an organised, confident communicator who can bring together families and professionals while managing varied and complex casework within statutory timescales? If so, this could be a great opportunity to join Gloucestershire’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) Service at an important time for the service.

About the Team & Role

In Gloucestershire, we want children and young people with SEND to receive the right support, at the right time and in the right place. We are strengthening our EHCP Service and have multiple exciting opportunities for EHCP Case Co-ordinators to join our warm, supportive and dedicated team, helping us deliver high-quality plans and improve outcomes for children, young people and their families.

Working under the supervision of an EHCP Lead Case Co-ordinator, you will play a key role in preparing, reviewing and amending Education, Health and Care Plans in line with statutory requirements and timescales. You will build positive relationships with children and young people, families, educational settings, health and social care professionals and other agencies. Your varied work will include attending annual reviews, analysing professional advice, supporting transition planning, facilitating meetings, responding sensitively to enquiries and preparing information for panels where required. You will maintain accurate case records, contribute to consistent good practice and keep safeguarding at the heart of your work. This countywide role involves travel across Gloucestershire, so you will need a full driving licence and access to a vehicle.

About You

You will share our commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for children and young people with SEND and understand the value of person-centred planning and working in partnership with families. You will enjoy building effective relationships and be able to communicate clearly and sensitively, including when situations are challenging or complex. You will have experience of working under pressure, balancing competing priorities and meeting deadlines, together with the confidence to analyse professional reports and assessments, coordinate meetings and provide clear advice and guidance. Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, person-centred planning and post-16 options is important. You will need five GCSEs or an equivalent level of education and a relevant Level 4 professional qualification or equivalent experience. SEND training, recognised careers or employment advice training and knowledge of Capita v4 would be advantageous.

About Us

At Gloucestershire County Council, you can build a rewarding career while helping make a tangible difference to children, young people and families across the county. You will join a supportive service that values collaboration, development and regular supervision, with flexible and agile working opportunities. Our benefits include 25.5 days’ annual leave, rising to 30.5 days after five years’ continuous service, plus bank holidays, pro rata; access to the Local Government Pension Scheme; free off-site car parking; a staff discount scheme; the Cycle to Work scheme; and access to our Employee Assistance Programme, providing free and confidential counselling and advice 24 hours a day, online and by telephone. You will also have access to employee networks, including Prism, our LGBT+ network, and the Young Employees Network.
