About the Role
*This is a rolling advert and applications will be reviewed as they are received. Suitable candidates may be shortlisted and interviewed before the closing date, so early application is encouraged. There are five vacancies available in total:
- 2 posts at 11.1 hours per week
- 3 posts at 8 hours per week

Adult Education in Gloucestershire is seeking enthusiastic and flexible tutors to deliver high-quality learning programmes in community settings across the county.
Our learners include unemployed adults, adults returning to learning, adults with disabilities, ESOL learners, Parents and Carers and individuals facing a range of social and economic barriers.
We’re looking for an enthusiastic Tutor to deliver one or more of the following courses:
- High‑quality employability: CV writing, Interview Skills, Job Searching and Matching, Application Forms, IAG.
- Personal and social development: Confidence Building, Building Effective Routines, Goal Setting, Building Effective Relationships, Wellbeing for Work
- Sector Specific: Catering, Cleaning, Hospitality, Retail, Health and Safety, Health and Social Care.
- Cookery, Healthy Eating, Budgeting and Nutrition
- Digital Skills courses e.g. AI, Social Media, Microsoft Office, Emails etc.
- Wellbeing courses e.g. Mental Health Awareness, Mindfulness and Meditation, Breathwork, Wellbeing Toolkit, Personal Resilience, Ayurveda, chakras
- Family Learning courses (with experience working with children, families or primary education): Understanding your neurodiverse child, Support your Child with Maths/English, Wellbeing for Families.
You’ll play a key role in designing and delivering high‑quality learning programmes that make a real difference across our county and to people's lives.
About You:
- Ability to plan and deliver engaging learning in community settings to adults across Gloucestershire.
- Ability to assess learner needs, track progress, and record achievements.
- Ability to embed English, maths, digital and language skills into your sessions.
- Ability to support adults with diverse learning needs and help them move on to their next steps.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and contribute to quality assurance.
- Ability to provide high‑quality information, advice and guidance.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a friendly, supportive team.
- Demonstrable experience teaching adults or community groups from disadvantaged backgrounds.
- Ability to design learner‑centred programmes.
- Confident use of digital tools in teaching e.g. Outlook, Powerpoint, YouTube, Apps
- Strong communication skills and a flexible, positive approach.
- Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and continuous improvement.
Essential:
- Level 3 Award in Education and Training, or equivalent teaching qualification/experience. Applicants who do not currently hold a teaching qualification must be willing to work towards one within an agreed timeframe and self-fund the qualification. - Minimum 1 year teaching experience
- Level 2 English and maths
- Competent use of Microsoft Office Programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook Emails and Calendar management.
- Confidence or willingness to learn usage of Learner Management Systems
- Willingness to upskill in other areas of delivery
- Due to the nature of the role you must be able to drive across the county and have access to your own vehicle.

Variable Hours Tutor - Job Profile
This Position is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
