Gloucestershire’s Children’s Residential Service brings together children’s homes and short breaks provision, with supported accommodation currently being mobilised as part of the service’s continued development. Across these different settings, our focus is on providing care and support that responds to children’s and young people’s individual needs, values their relationships and helps them build towards their future. This Registered Manager role offers the opportunity to lead a children’s home within that wider service, helping children feel safe, develop trusting relationships and experience a sense of belonging.

Right Child, Right Support, Right Time, Every Time

Gloucestershire’s vision is ‘Working together to support families and communities to give every child the best chance of a happy and rewarding life, especially those who need more help.' Our investment in the in-house residential strategy puts that commitment into practice for children and young people. Our improvement and transformation plans support staff to make a real difference and improve outcomes for children.

About us

We are seeking an exceptional leader to manage our children’s home for younger children who need a period of intensive support. You will help children build stability and prepare for a return to a family setting, whether through foster care or a return home. The home forms part of Gloucestershire’s wider range of children’s homes, supporting children with different needs and plans for permanence.

Our homes support children and young people for whom residential care has been assessed as the most appropriate option to help them fulfil their potential. We work with our statutory partners through a trauma-informed, integrated approach, considering each child’s needs as a whole and what needs to change to help them achieve timely permanence.

About you

We welcome applications from experienced Registered Managers and deputies in children’s homes who are ready to step into registered management. You will be committed to improving outcomes for children and young people in care, with evidence of how your leadership has contributed to the homes you have helped lead and the outcomes children have achieved.

You will join a home with a team already in place, providing clear direction, mentoring and day-to-day support. We are looking for someone who leads by example, builds trusting relationships and helps adults develop their practice. You will bring a collaborative approach and foster shared pride in the home and the wider Children’s Residential Service, keeping children’s experiences, wellbeing and achievements at the heart of your leadership.

As part of Gloucestershire’s wider Children’s Services leadership network, you will connect with other leaders, share learning and draw on professional support. The Registered Managers forum offers opportunities to build relationships with peers, exchange ideas and contribute to developing practice across our services. Alongside training and specialist support, you will have opportunities to learn from others and contribute your own experience and ideas.

As well as your experience of working in children’s homes, there are some things we require of you to be successfully appointed to this post:

· level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Care (or nearing completion/able to begin the programme) or an equivalent qualification

· within the last 5 years, worked for at least 2 years in a position relevant to the residential care of children

· experience of managing a team of professionals which demonstrates inspirational leadership, reflective supervision, staff development and which achieves positive outcomes for children

· a full driving licence and willingness to drive

· DBS clearance

Interviews will be held at Shire Hall on the 1st December.
